    Position: PSM Engineer (Process Safety Management)

    What We Are Looking For:


    Successful Process Safety Engineer that has a strong technical background and experience in all key elements of PSM. The candidates that fill this role will have an immediate positive impact on our Asset Engineering team, our customers and our company, and the work will be rewarding while developing the Engineer for further assignments in Asset Engineering, Operations or Safety.

    The Process Safety Engineer will participate in the Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) and oversee completion of the PSSR Action Plans and assist in development and maintenance of Operating Procedures for PSM facilities.  The Process Safety Engineer will participate/lead and support the process safety event investigation process including oversight of corrective actions.  This position also is engaged in process safety activities such as assuring equipment/process controls in the PSM-covered process that are identified independent protection layers (IPL) are included in the facility management systems such as Maximo, RBI, and SIS,


    Job Responsibilities:

    • Experience in oil and gas processing or chemical manufacturing operations.
    • Provide technical leadership and guidance to asset engineering team
    • Write and implement effective operating procedures for PSM-covered processes.
    • Participate in PSM compliance audits
    • Understand process safety implications of incidents and provide guidance to site for proper classification, investigation, and improvements.
    • Assist with communicating external process safety events to the site/asset and share best practices identified within the company.
    • Participate in the management of change (MOC) and pre-start up safety review (PSSR) processes.
    • Lead or participate on process safety event incident investigations.
    • Participate in company process safety technical networks.
    • Track and understand action plans from Process Hazard Analyses.
    • Work to close out PSM open action plans and audit finding corrective actions.
    • Engage contractors for Arc Flash Studies, PSV/Flare Designs and Studies
    • Assure equipment/process controls in the PSM-covered process that are identified independent protection layers (IPL) are included in the facility management systems such as Maximo, RBI, and SIS.
    • Oversee DCS alarm management and collaborate with Operations, Asset Engineering, and Safety/PSM to improve alarm practice
    • Leverage experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals: A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
    • Assist with design and execution processes for workflow and standards to manage compliance in PSM

    Job Requirements:

    • 5+ years of relevant industry experience in Safety and/or PSM
    • BS in Engineering.  Chemical, Mechanical, or Safety are preferred
    • 2+ years of experience working in the field at a facility
    • Comprehensive understanding and application of fundamental Engineering and Operational practices
    • Knowledge of PSM regulations
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • 25-50% Travel Requirements to field locations (most within 1-2 hours of home office)
    • Jobs will be located in Houston, TX, Oklahoma City, OK, Midland, TX and Greeley, CO
